My Final Reflection
The five days I spent at Dr. George Ferguson were such an amazing experience for me. I got to know the students very well and it also worked my way up to know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. During my field experience, I got a feel of what a teacher is like. I read in front of the students, I helped them with their work, and I got to know each student personally.
For week six my partner and I were supposed to go into a different classroom to experience how other teachers teach and control their classroom. Unfortunately, I did not get to experience that and I was really looking forward to it. In the time I had with Ms. In Ms. Hoeft’s grade two classroom I got to learn how to deal with children who have disabilities, EAL students, and students who needed the extra help. Learning this will help me become the teacher I am going to be. I learned about diversity and difference, the students and their learning environments, school and community, and building relationships. I have gained a strong relationship with all the students in the classroom and it was hard for me to not be able to say goodbye to them.
During my experiences, I have learned so many things that will inspire me as a future teacher, and I learned from Ms. Hoeft’s ways to control a classroom. I hated waking up early in the mornings, but as soon as I came into the classroom with a bunch of happy faces it made me not want to leave at noon. I wanted to stay with them and continue learning about each child along with learning what it means to be a good teacher.
