Who Am I?
Hello, my name is Kendra,
My hometown is Yorkton, Saskatchewan, I have lived there my whole life (18 years). In Yorkton, I live with my two parents and my little sister. I have two dogs and have been fostering puppies for two years now. I am currently living in residence in Regina to attend school. As a kid I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, then in high school, I wanted to go into business, but at the last minute a week before the deadline, I decided I wanted to be a teacher and now here I am. I am in my first year of University and I am really enjoying it so far, but it is also tough being away from my family and friends. At home, I work as a lifeguard/ Instructor at the swimming pool and I have been working there for two years. For two years I have been working with infants to adults teaching them how to swim, and honestly, it is my favourite thing to do. I strongly believe this is one of the many reasons that pushed me to become a teacher.
Since I was little, my family and I have been travelling. We have gone to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, Iceland, Mexico, Jamaica, Hawaii, Minnesota, North Dakota, Florida, California, and Arizona. As a result, travelling to all these places makes me feel like I have learned more on my trips than I did in school. There are still so many places I want to go and explore in the future, but my first goal is to finish University. With these experiences, I think I could use them to relate to certain topics when designing a lesson plan or a unit plan. I am so happy to make new friends and live with people I now would consider family, there are so many new experiences I am looking forward to in my steps towards becoming an elementary school teacher.
